Welcome to Joining Forces for Women Veterans and Military Spouses Mentoring Plus. We hope that you will become a mentor and/or a subject matter expert (SME) in this program (click here for a summary overview). In both cases, through your skills and experiences, you have an opportunity to give back . . . to assist women veterans and military wives in their journey to meaningful employment. The program will be deployed in three phases:
Dec. 22nd: Mentor & SME application process begins: veterans, military spouses and civilians are invited to apply as mentors and subject matter experts (SMEs).
Jan. 18th: Mentee application process begins: women veterans and military spouses are invited to apply as mentees. During this time we will also launch the formal application for current and newly recruited employer partners and organizations to provide mentors, employment connections and resources.
Feb. 1st: Begin suggesting mentor matches to mentees, and begin the career mentoring activities. We will also complete the initial populating of the career mentoring resource bank including subject matter expert.

Joining Forces for Women Veterans and Military Spouses Mentoring Plus is providing resources, including mentors, SMEs and online connections to veterans and military wives to assist in their successfully obtaining meaningful employment and a career of their interest. This mentoring model is based on career and workforce development goals. The mentoring plus program will help these women in:

Mentoring Plus is a women-helping-women model, giving working women – both veterans and civilians – the opportunity to tap their own experiences in the workplace, to help these military women successfully enter and advance in the civilian workforce.

BPW Foundation and its Advisory Council and employer partners will provide oversight, mentor training, research and analysis of Joining Forces for Women Veterans and Military Spouses Mentoring Plus.
Why BPW Foundation? BPW has always focused on working women – more specifically, women working in non-traditional occupations. In 2005 BPW Foundation recognized the surge of women veterans returning home from two wars. Being the first foundation to focus research exclusively on working women, we wanted to know how workplaces were receiving these new and uniquely skilled workers and what resources were available to help them move from the military to the civilian workforce. The Women Joining Forces (WJF) Advisory Council and Mentoring Advisory Council were created to provide the expertise and experience needed to accomplish our goals to support military women in their efforts to successfully transition to the civilian world.
BPW is open to any and all suggestions to improve the goals of this program and those who use it. We also welcome company and organizational support of this program.
