BPW Foundation Privacy Statement
Business and Professional Women’s (BPW) Foundation is dedicated to protecting the privacy of members, donors and visitors to BPW Foundation’s website, http://www.bpwfoundation.org. BPW Foundation is the sole owner of such information and will only share information with outside parties in ways that are described in this privacy statement.
BPW Foundation collects additional information about members and donors when they join, donate and/or log in to the website (such as name, company name, email address and phone number and demographic data such as job title, state, education levels and salaries). BPW Foundation may use this member and donor information to provide member benefits and to facilitate donor relations. This information may also be used in aggregate, to communicate with others about BPW Foundation and to help the BPW Foundation develop programs and partnerships based on member and donor interests. This information is also used to generate invoices and create a demographic profile which stakeholders can access and/or update.
BPW Foundation does not sell or rent the personal information of its members and/or donors, including e-mail addresses. We will not deliver target advertisements from others to members and/or donors. We provide no mechanism for an advertiser to reach members and/or donors, unless the member and/or donor signs up directly with an advertiser or outside vendor. Personal information is not collected on the website, except in instances where users voluntarily provide BPW Foundation with such information.
There are products and services that are provided by BPW Foundation Affinity Partners and Affiliates. These partners and affiliates may not use members’ and/or donors’ information for any purpose other than to contact them about the affinity product.
BPW Foundation sends members and donors regular communications unless they indicate that they do not want to be contacted. Members and/or donors may opt out of these communications at any time by selecting “unsubscribe” in the electronic communication template. Those who receive communications by mail should indicate they wish to no longer receive such mailings in their member record or by contacting the BPW Foundation at 202-293-1100.
BPW Foundation may also file comments received through the “Contact Us” function of the web site. Such information is used to improve the web site and programming and/or to review and then discard.
Note: BPW Foundation may disclose personal information to law enforcement and other authorities in the rare case when there is reason to believe that disclosure is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) the rights or property of BPW Foundation, our members, other users or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. BPW Foundation reserves the right to disclose or access account information when they have a good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary for compliance with any law.
Online Data Collection
In general, the http://www.bpwfoundation.org website gathers information about users as a group, such as which areas users visit most frequently and what services users access the most. This website automatically collects information about users’ IP address, browser type, domain name, date and time of access and general location (country of access). This information is anonymous and BPW Foundation only uses such data in the aggregate to analyze site traffic and to determine what information is most relevant to users, for general promotional purposes, and for making decisions about the future strategy and direction of the website. The aggregated information may also be shared with third parties to promote the services of BPW Foundation and the website, or to add to general knowledge concerning working women.
Use of cookies
BPW Foundation’s web site logs IP addresses and browser types for systems administration purposes. These logs will be analyzed to improve the value of the materials available on the website. A user’s session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous. We do not link IP addresses to any personally identifiable information.
We use cookies to identify the person during their web session, but we do not store personal information in these cookies.
You may choose to set the Internet properties of your computer so that you are alerted each time a cookie is being stored on your computer or you may choose to prohibit the collection of cookies all together. In addition, you may delete cookies that have already been stored on your hard drive. Third-Party Service Providers
BPW Foundation occasionally partners with third parties to assist us in managing certain functions on the web site, such as sending out our newsletters. Personal information provided to third-party service providers is limited to that information necessary to carry out the service (e.g. only email addresses are provided to the party sending the newsletter on our behalf). BPW Foundation endeavors to ensure that third-party service providers have privacy policies similar to those of BPW Foundation and that they use the personal information received from us only as approved by BPW Foundation.
Security
Protecting your privacy and your information is a top priority. BPW Foundation has taken careful measures to prevent the loss, misuse and alteration of your information. Once we receive your information that was entered into our web site, it is stored behind a firewall. All of our employees are aware of our privacy and security policies. Your information is only accessible to those employees who need it in order to perform their jobs.
Notification of Changes
If we are going to use your personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection through the web site, we will notify you via email. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already collected through our site, we will post a prominent notice on the web site notifying users of the change.
